snaps of our week and gratitude with attitude:

family voter's breakfastvotingmoustache house wild hairshadowreadingbitez

listy listy of my gratefulness. this week i’m thankful for:

1. a family that still has fun even after 2 1/2 hrs of waiting in line

 2. warm, portable voter’s breakfast and a voting location within walking distance

3. thankful for the voting process and for being an ohio voter for the first time. i’m pretty much hooked. that swing state suspense is killer!

4. thankful for walks with my girl past “the moustache house”

5. my girl’s wild hair

6. sunny & warm fall afternoons at the playground and shadows that make me look like a MO-del

7. daddy daughter reading time

8. and again, this girl. if there’s any questions as to why….just check out that face ONE MORE TIME.

wishing you all a happy weekend.

our first weekend home in a while was quite busy but busy is good. the weekend included: momma got her hairz cut, initiation at To Di for Fitness boot camp, lady date to brother’s drake meadery, and here’s darla and i at an annie leibovitz family-friendly event at the wexner center:

wexner
duoleibovitz guess whobizacheleibovitz feet

we toured the leibovitz collections. there was much protesting from darla about this. i was pretty bummed because i wanted to check out all the nudie pics. just kidddding. i am sure i will be teasing her about turning up her nose at the most famous american photographer when she’s a know-it-all teen. we played leibovitz guess who and had a portrait of our feet taken in the style of miss annie. i adore it. it’s worth noting that darla does not appear to have the sexton toes.  we finished the day with our first bizache. wowza. i’m in love. the cafe at the wex center is phenomenal.

as great as all these different outings and doings were, my favorite of the weekend was our family trip to the grocery. my family can turn a simple, routine event into a fun fest.

i love them.

hope you had a great one as well. you really deserved it. i don’t know if you know this but…you’re my favorite reader ;-)

here’s a few snaps from the week. this month will be my thankfulness editions. because this is supposed to be the month i’m thankful and sh*t.

and the truth is, i really am more thankful than i’ve been in a long time. it’s something i’ve been working on.

headless horseman halloween kiddoshankiesunruly hankymirror mirror

1. i am most thankful for my silly, handsome husband who makes me proud everyday and does a great headless horseman impression.

2. thankful for friends both young and young at heart. thankful to be living in our ‘hood.

3 & 4. thankful for my new pretty hanky collection compliments of my cousin’s wedding. pretty handkerchiefs are an excellent wedding favor! there was an ample amount left at the end of the night and i’m thinking “hey, i’m always wiping things off people’s faces.” pics are pre and post darla discovery.

5. annnnd i’m thankful for good hair days.

have a good weekend y’all.

i know we’re already into tuesday but i just thought reminiscing about the weekend was still in order. here’s our roadtripy, woodsy, campfirey weekend:

road hat

coffeeauto tunes

shake

1. road hat ready  2. coffee goodness ready  3. auto tunes ready (get it?) 4. pit stop

we stopped at aullwood audubon center in dayton, OH for a little woods-walking leg stretch. i’ve driven past many-a-time and said “we should stop there some day.” well, saturday was the day. and i think i’ll put it on the trip agenda more often. we spent a brief time there and i think…i think i’m gonna like it there

and then we reached my parents homestead for a fun night with friends.

mallows

ghost marshmallows. bonfire tradition now i guess.

it was a pretty quick trip but great just the same. i was so happy to just enjoy everyone’s company and visit with kiddos. i gotta say an added bonus of labor support work is reunion time with the families you have supported in birth.

at the end of the evening darla, mike and i braved the cold for a campout. darla was all like “let’s tell spooky stories!” to which we decided against and settled on robots instead. the best we could come up with was a half-ass account of the jetsons. i think the highlight of my weekend was being snuggled under 20 blankets with my family as the cold air nipped my nose. i kept thinking how great it would be for us to just live in a tent!

yes, a tent. with wheels. called a winnebago. i’ll never give up this dream.

fly bear

i just wanted to include another shot from these moments when darla was tossing her beloved amanda bear up in the air. we were actually having a bit of a rough walk home as someone was not happy about leaving the playground, even though we’d been there for 2 1/2 hours. so in the middle of her whining and my coaxing us along she stopped and started tossing bear. it was literally and figuratively a release. i was so thankful for that little mood changer that got us home a bit happier.

vinyl frontier

do you know what that is a picture of? that’s a man living his dream. well, sort of. more like a step towards his dream. anyways, that’s a man working in a record shop and that man is my husband.

darla and i visited mike at his new job at vinyl frontier this past week. i gotta say i really like the space. it has lots of unique touches. and it has tons of records. TONS. husband gets paid to listen to music, talk about music and file music all day. i’m very happy for him that he is getting his hands into something he loves.

harvest moon weekend

did you enjoy the harvest moon weekend? did neil young perform in your headspace as well? just me?

oh well.

we enjoyed a wonderful weekend of beautiful weather (thankful for that after several rainy days), carnival rides, food truck fest and a little girl running hills.

picture comment one: i was a little reluctant to let darla in the fun house. i mean, did you see those paintings? i don’t know if you know this but carnivals are creepy…

picture comment two: the food truck fest was at mallow run winery. this was a rad time! the set up was very relaxed and kid-friendly – a great place to relax, nosh, and watch your child run up and down hills while you delude yourself that it will help get her into an earlier bedtime. i highly suggest it for any of you central indiana folk.

hope you enjoyed your weekend. thanks for reading about ours!
